Result
The OXO Good Grips Nylon Grill Brush for Cold Cleaning - This brush solves the most annoying part of grilling: cleaning off the grates. The bristles are made of durable nylon, which means you can deep clean all types of grill grates – including coated ceramic. The front rows of bristles are angled (to reach into corners) and the tip has a stainless steel scraper with cut-outs (to clear off burnt-on bits). And the head is replaceable to minimize waste and prolong the life of your brush. Of course, the angled handle has a soft grip for added comfort while you work.
Discoveries
Ergonomics — With the inherent force and leverage required for scrubbing and cleaning dirty grills, it was clear ergonomics would be a crucial element in the design of the brush. Testers tried heavily prescribed grip designs, with specific touchpoints for their hand and even finger placement. They also tested designs with very large grip areas that didn’t prescribe a particular way to hold. Users were best accommodated by concepts that weren’t over-prescribed and allowed for multiple grip styles.
User testing also showed that the angle of the head to the handle had a significant impact on comfort during use. The interesting result here was user height played little to no role in the angle preference.
